Internship
My internship was at Henry Height elementary school being a T.A for Hixon Scott my 5th grade teacher. The majority of the work I was given was grading work and filing children’s work away. The T.A work I received was something I was not used to compared the work I get from Randy Covey another teacher I T.A for example Randy normally assigns me work where I have to build something for his physics class and the only limitations I have are things I find in the center. When I was assigned work from Mr.Hixon it was more structured and I knew how much work I had to do. It gave me a comparison on how different the work loads were. It might have to do that ACLC has freedom in terms of educational exploration. My internship gave me a perspective on different times of work teachers do before and after their class and how it differs from school to school and grade to grade. It also made me realize that teachers work past their hours and they work into their own personal time. Teachers are highly underpaid and underappreciated. I never thought my internship would show how far people work into their own work. I did realize that most teachers enjoy their work and the pay small price to enjoy the work. I hope I find a job I enjoy. It made me realize that I should find a job that I can obsessive over so it does not seem like job but rather a hobby.
To be completely honest I did not find much joy in my internship. The only reason I went was because I felt I was giving back to the community and I was helping someone who has taught me that learning never ends. That’s all part of the experience of learning about work. I am glad I found out that I did not like the work early instead of later. I have a lot to think about before accepting a job thinks like is it worth it? Will I enjoy it? It seems that pay does not play a large factor but it does not hurt.I am pretty sure if i live within my means and I enjoy my work I will have a decent life. There are a couple things i might need to rethink before i head to college but I don’t know what to think. I might just need to deal with it as they come up. No point of stressing about it now.
I would say i learned a lot from my internship. Both positive and negative. I would say there was more positive experiences over all. Thinks like giving back to the community and helping out someone that has taught me important lessons that i will keep with me for my life. Giving up my time is a small price to give back to the community and the feeling i get is priceless.
